Thanks to the trim

In 2024, the historic building was extensively renovated and complemented by a modern new building.
With a spectacular view of the imposing mountain range of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the Hotel Mürren Palace has been perched on the highest point of the Mürren mountain terrace since 1874 and is considered the oldest Palace Hotel in Switzerland. The small mountain village in the Bernese Oberland which is 1650 m above sea level, is known as the cradle of alpine skiing. Until the 1930s, it attracted the rich and famous all over Europe. After eventful years and over a decade of inactivity, the Mürren Palace has now been awakened from its deep sleep. In 2024, the historic building was extensively renovated and supplemented by a new building. Some of the demanding sheet metal work was carried out by the Glauser company from Bäriswil in the Swiss canton of Bern.
Material flown in by helicopter
“Stephan, can you produce balcony end panels with a trim? That’s one of the requirements because of the preservation order. If so, I have an interesting job for you at lofty heights!”. That’s how the call from the managing director of a flat roofing company he knows began, says Stephan Glauser with a smile. The owner of Glauser Spenglerei & Bedachungen AG has fond memories of this phone call. This request in October 2024 quickly turned into an exciting project that presented challenges in terms of time, logistics and craftsmanship – especially as the required materials had to be flown directly to the site by helicopter.

the required trim were precisely manufactured and professionally installed by the team from Spenglerei Glauser.
End panels with trim for 36 balconies
“Thanks to our F41 folding machine from CIDAN, we produced the required end panels with trim quickly, easily and precisely. This was one of the reasons why the order was entrusted to us,” continues Stephan Glauser. The team from Spenglerei Glauser produced the required sheets for 36 balconies with a total of 144 components. At the architect’s request, the components made of high-quality copper-titanium zinc were given their historic look with a stove-enamel finish in the color NCS S 4010-Y30R. The wall crown covers were coated with aluminum from Prefa in the color P.10 brown and fit seamlessly into the overall picture. The glamorous grand opening of the renowned Palace Mürren finally took place on 26.12.2024 with illustrious guests worlwide.
