A True Bavarian Metalwork Enthusiast

economist for the trades and a state-certified energy consultant (HWK).
Suppose you are passionate about metals and modern sheet metal processing. In that case, you’ll feel right at home in the Sieber GmbH workshop, located in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck in Germany. Everything revolves around sheet metal: the walls are adorned with numerous sheet metal templates, shelves are stacked with gutters, neatly stored sheet metal coils are visible, and a table is covered with sheet metal cutouts ready for bending. Most striking is the state-of-the-art machinery, which immediately catches the eye and draws attention.
Editor: Mr. Sieber, while preparing for our interview, I visited your homepage and came across your excellent Google reviews. In addition to your expertise and the high quality of your work, there is frequent praise for your “incredibly hardworking, dedicated, polite, and always cheerful employees.”
Markus Sieber: Yes, I’ve read those too, and it made me very happy! The slogan of FC Bayern – “Mia san mia” – is a perfect fit for us as well: we are proud and self-assured Bavarian craftsmen and craftswomen who work together as equals and support each other. That’s precisely how we operate, and in my opinion, that’s also the secret to our success.
Editor: In an article about you and your company, you were described as a “jack-of-all-trades.” Would you agree with that description? After all, you are not only a roofer and master sheet metal worker but also hold a degree in business administration for trades and are a state-certified energy consultant (HWK).
Markus Sieber: As I’ve always been energetic, curious, and interested in many things, I can definitely agree with that description. Some customers have even called me a “true Bavarian metalwork enthusiast.” I like that title better—it’s flattering and suits me well.
Editor: Olching is located about 20 kilometers west of Munich. Do you also work directly in Munich, or is your focus more on the Fürstenfeldbruck district? After all, you have about 20 sheet metal workers and roofers to keep busy every day.
Markus Sieber: Since founding our company in 1999, we’ve quickly built a strong reputation and have benefited from stable demand ever since. We receive referrals from private homeowners, renovators, architects and developers. Our focus is on the Fürstenfeldbruck district, the surrounding region, and the western parts of Munich.
Editor: That sounds like a very grounded and sustainable strategy for your business. Do you still plan to expand and grow?
Markus Sieber: Good people are always welcome here. And yes, we are striving for growth—but not in quantitative terms, instead in qualitative aspects. That’s why we prefer to invest in modern machinery that enhances product quality, increases manufacturing efficiency, reduces the workload on our employees, and promotes their well-being.
Editor: Could you provide an example in this context?
Markus Sieber: In 2018, we acquired a CTL system (nuSLIT) from Forstner. Previously, we made sheet metal cutouts manually and had to handle each piece about three times. With the Forstner system, everything is much easier, faster, more precise, and more efficient—not to mention the physical relief it provides our employees.
Editor: Thalmann´s large TD double bender is also impossible to miss. Have you not had a folding machine or something similar before?
Markus Sieber: We’ve had the Thalmann TD and the CIDAN FX32 folding machine since December 2020. Before that, we used the “Pico” from Thalmann for many years, which we were delighted with and could resell at a reasonable price despite its age. That speaks volumes about the high quality and durability of the machines. One might say: once Thalmann, always Thalmann.
Editor: The machine truly convince you.
Markus Sieber: Yes, absolutely. The TD is truly impressive. It’s hard to imagine achieving more precision, efficiency, and workload reduction. The automatic sheet flipping unit alone is efficient and helpful. Previously, we needed at least two employees to produce long sheet profiles. If we had more space, we would have definitely equipped the TD with the lateral sheet loading feature as well. We’re also thoroughly satisfied with the CIDAN FX32. The rotating combi beam excites us the most, which allows for tool changes between straight rail and box tooling in just seconds.
Editor: Do you have any plans for further investments in the near future? And is there anything else you’d like to mention?
Markus Sieber: We’re currently optimally equipped in terms of machinery, though our limited space poses some challenges. However, I would like to highlight the excellent consultation and service quality of the CIDAN Machinery Group. For us as customers, that’s a critical factor in our satisfaction. From the very beginning, we’ve felt well taken care of, and with sales manager Norbert Wiesinger, we have a dedicated contact person we can rely on 100%, who is always there for us. That’s exactly how it should be!
Info: The CIDAN Machinery Group will exhibit at BAU Munich: Hall 1-C300.
